For those who follow along, you know that I have been working on getting all the trim in my house painted white.
Well, let me tell you, this process sucks! I am so tired of doing it. I must be vocalizing this quite a bit because my husband has started to mention hiring someone to come in and finish it! But of course, the cheapskate in me would never let this happen.
I think that part of the reason that I hate it so much is that I am getting bored with it. I am so ready to get moving on another project! I decided to tackle a small project in the midst of the chaos.
Last week I went to IKEA (read about my Minneapolis junking adventure here) and found this incredibly cute and incredibly cheap ($14) step stool. But, it definitely needed a little bit of an updo.
Really the easiest assembly ever. Maybe took 15 minutes.
What I love about it is that it is high enough that my little one can reach almost anything that she needs and it is super sturdy! She has stated that there was something on the top shelf in her room that she has wanted to reach for her “entire life” and now she can! A very exciting day!!
After assembly, I painted the stool with a blue Valspar paint. I am not sure of the exact color. On a recent trip to Lowe’s I bought 8 reject sample colors for 50 cents each. I had no idea what I was going to do with them when I bought them. But, I knew that would come in handy someday!!
I wanted the stool to have a little bit of a nautical feel to it so I added a little bit of rope around the legs. I used hot glue to keep it secured.
And of course I had to add a few numbers for fun!
And, the final product….
I am a little bummed that it is finished. Now I have to get back to reality and get that trim painted!! Here’s what I am working on right now.
Please let me know what you think. I love to hear all of your comments….good or bad! Really!! And of course, would love for you to follow along with me. Just let me know that you are so I can follow you back!

I feel for you, Maggie! The one thing I dislike doing THE MOST is painting!!! I always procrastinate on projects involving paint...unless it's spray paint, that is. ;)
ReplyDeleteYour step stool turned out really cute and the comment by your little one was just too precious. She's all of what, five? lol
Thanks for linking your creativity to Time Travel Thursday this week.
Blessings,
Liz @ The Brambleberry Cottage
Love it! The rope addition is perfect :)

I'll think twice about that stool next time I'm in Ikea. I love what you did with it, especially the rope trim! ~ Maureen
ReplyDeleteI was thinking the same thing. "How fast can I get to Ikea to grab one of those stools?" haha
ReplyDeleteLOVE IT!! I also detest painting trim!
Love what you did with the stool. Great idea to mix in another project for variety. Sorry you have to go back to the trim, lol. Thanks for sharing at our party this week.
ReplyDeleteI love, love, love the up-do on the stool. Love the color, love the numbers, love the rope. Perfect transformation. I'm jealous...of the stool that is...I do NOT envy the trim work. I'm updating the trim in our house as well. You're better than me though. I tackle about one little piece a week. Maybe I'll be finish next year! :)
