I am struggling to get back into the swing of things after a wonderful holiday weekend! We did not take the traditional route for Easter this year, instead we took advantage of the four day weekend and took the kids on a little vacation to Omaha, Nebraska…this is not a joke, we really did vacation in Omaha!
As you can see we are very daring world travelers. Ha!Ha! When you own your own business the opportunity to get away is very limited. So I guess you go where you can get back quickly from. If we are gone longer than that everything falls apart…not good! All that matters to the kids is that we have a hotel with a pool.
Of course we had to do a little shopping while we were there. It wouldn’t be a successful vacation without it. Have you ever been to the Old Market area of Omaha? Extremely cool!
If you go you have to check out the Fairmont Antiques and Mercantile.
Here we found the piano that Lady Gaga played in the video “You and I”…so super cool!
My Emily is a piano player (I think that face is in tribute to Lady G).
This place has something for everyone. From candy to antiques they have it all. Check out the great find that Natalie snapped up.
Just down the street there are a number of amazing shops and restaurants to check out. This is a little building that has a number of shops inside. Just gorgeous!
The so sad news is that the only thing that I bought was a hat.
Just no great deals to be found that day. I did find something that is going to have to be one of those things that gets put on the “maybe someday” list. This is a handmade piece done by a local artist. The picture does not do it justice…so pretty! (But $550 and too big to fit in the car)
And then the next day we were off to the Henry Doorly Zoo. If you have never been…go!! My kids absolutely adore this place…year after year it is still exciting! I won’t give you the complete tour (many, many pictures were taken) but just know that if you are ever in the vicinity take the family.
We were there on Easter Sunday and yes, that is an Easter basket for monkey!
These are my favorite times. Love my family and each precious moment that I get to share with them. Even if it is only in Omaha!!

Popped in from "brenda's Cozy Little House" this a.m.
ReplyDeleteJust had to chuckle when i saw you went to Omaha..
We are around 55 miles from there and I was just trying to think what we could do there that was different...sometimes things are so close you can't see it!
Looks like a wonderful weekend...thanks for sharing! (and I may just have to hit the Old Market or Lincoln's Haymarket..not sure yet!)
